You may need to wait longer for your visa if you don’t hold a passport from one country requiring pre-visa clearance.

Type of Visas :

Chad’s immigration laws are pretty strict, and there are different visa types that you can apply for when you visit Chad. These include:

  • Tourist visa: This visa is given to travellers who wish to travel to Chad for recreational purposes, such as sightseeing or visiting historical sites. The tourist visa is usually valid for 90 days from the date of issue. Applications must be submitted at least 15 days before your arrival date.
  • Business Visa: If you plan on starting a business in Chad or working there as an employee, this is the correct type of visa for you. It’s valid for 90 days, although it may be extended until 180 days upon request by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DGIE). You’ll need all documents related to your professional activities—such as contracts—and proof that those activities will benefit Chad. Your employer should also submit documents proving that they have adequate resources available to hire foreign workers at all times during their stay in Chad (this includes proof that they have enough equipment and supplies).

How to Apply for the Different Types of Chad Visas?

Chad visas can be applied for in four ways. You can do it online, at a Chad embassy or consulate, or one of the country’s Visa Application Centres (VAC).

You’ll need to have your passport details ready and pay an application fee to apply online.

The process takes around 15 minutes and results in a visa approval letter being emailed to you within 2 hours of submitting your application.

Once you’ve received this letter, present it with your valid passport when travelling to Chad by air or land border.

How Long Is the Chad Visa Valid For?

Once you have been granted a Chad visa, it will be valid for three or six months.

But that’s not all! You can also choose between 12 and 24 months. So, if you plan on staying in Chad for a while, this is a great option.

What Documents Do I Need to Apply for the Chad Visa?
  • Passport
  • Visa application form
  • Passport-style photo (2 cm x 3.5 cm) (No passport photos available at the Embassy)
  • Copy of your passport. If your passport is not in French, it will be necessary to submit a copy along with the original. This can be done at the Embassy when you apply for your visa, or you may send it by mail separately.
  • Flight itinerary (airline ticket) if you are coming from another country and entering Chad via an international flight; otherwise, no travel documentation is required as long as one arrives from France or another country within CEMAC member states where no visas are required.

Also, suppose travelling overland from Benin, Central African Republic or Gabon. In that case, no travel documentation is required as long as one arrives at Ndjamena International Airport through these countries’ borders with Chad. But, we recommend that travellers carry copies of this information in case of any problems upon arrival at airport immigration control points in these countries.”
