The government of Qatar has established a new online visa application system, the first of its kind in the world.
With this new system, Qatar has made it easier for visitors to apply and get their visas online without going through any physical.
If you want to explore the country, learn about it, or do business there, this is your step-
Choose a Qatar visa type.
The most common types of visas are tourist, business, transit and student. Depending on your trip, you may need to apply for one or more of the above.
Here is a brief overview of each visa type:
- Tourist Visa – It allows you to enter Qatar as a tourist and stay in the country for up to 30 days. You can extend your visit by another 30 days if you are willing to pay a more fee at the airport when leaving (or 60 days if arriving by air). This is valid only once every six months from the date of issue.
- Business Visa – This allows its holder to stay in Qatar for up to 90 days per visit (within 180 days), has no conditions attached, and no extension is possible other than re-entry into Qatar after leaving during the visa. But, this does not include transfer between Qatar Airways offices in Doha or Hamad International Airport terminals 1 or 2 unless otherwise stated on your permit issued by a government agency which administers visas (example: Ministry of Interior).
Fulfil the visa requirements.
The first step to applying for a Qatar visa is to ensure that you meet the requirements. This can be done by checking the visa requirements for Qatar, your country of residence and nationality.
The list of documents required may vary depending on these factors. For example, if you are under 18 years old and travelling with a parent or guardian, they must also provide their identification details (see below).
You must review these requirements before applying, as some nationalities require additional paperwork.
For example, if you are applying from Canada but have dual US citizenship, both countries will have different requirements for obtaining a Qatar visa.
Apply for a visa.
You can apply for a visa to Qatar by post, online or in person. You’ll need to pay the application fee when you submit your application.
Depending on your application, you may also need to provide biometric data (e.g., fingerprints) and standard photographs.
Follow up on your application status.
At this point, you should be able to check your visa status online. If your visa is approved, you will receive an email from the Qatar visa department with the details of your visa approval and a link where you can download it.
If Qatari authorities reject your application, you will receive an email about it.
You have 30 days after receiving this email to appeal the decision in person at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or through a friend or family member who has no criminal record and resides in Qatar.
If your application is pending because it hasn’t been decided yet, then there’s nothing to do but wait until they choose!
Suppose we had to guess, though. We’d say that most people will receive positive results within one week (7 days).
