Another exciting thing about this visa is that it allows all nationalities to enter Sri Lanka without worrying about whether their passports are up-to-date or expired.

How to apply for the Sri Lanka Visa- eTA

The eTA application is a straightforward process. Follow these steps:

  • Go to the Sri Lanka eTA website and fill in the application form with your details (name, nationality, passport number) and present address. You can also include your email address for future correspondence. There are 41 questions about your travel plans, but you only have to answer the ones that apply to you.
  • Pay the processing fee online using a credit card or PayPal account (you will make this payment from your passport fees). The current processing fee is US$55 per traveller; if this amount changes in future, it will be updated on the official website of Sri Lanka eTA—so keep checking back here for updates!
  • Submit the completed form by clicking “Submit” at the bottom right corner of the page, then confirm receipt via email before proceeding with the next step.
  • Receive an electronic copy of eTA once processed within 2-3 working days. This email will contain instructions on printing out an electronic document that should be kept handy while travelling through airport security checks.

After submitting your application, when will you receive it?

After submitting your application, you will receive an email confirmation of your application.

You will also receive a barcode to be printed out and taken to the airport.

When you land in Sri Lanka and present this barcode at immigration, they will enter your passport details into their computer system and issue you a temporary passport.
