Types of visas available

A visa is a stamp placed on your passport by the embassy or consulate that issues it.

Most visas are valid for a specific period, usually 30 to 90 days, and they are issued for one purpose: to allow you entry into another country.

In most cases, a visa can only be used when travelling between two countries (for example, travelling from France to Australia with stops in Singapore and Indonesia along the way).

A visa indicates which country has granted you permission to enter its borders and stay there for a certain amount of time; but, there are some exceptions when multiple passports may be required among different nations within an international territory (such as Antarctica).
